Destin Florida | Beach Family Session
This fall, Taylor’s sister Maddie got married and we were invited again to document this time they took us to Destin, Florida with them. Taylor and Tony and their little buddy-boy Sutton took that opportunity to have us take these EPIC sunset beach photos on the white sands of the Destin shores!

This little fam just makes my heart explode into a million little golden stars! We met by chance, I think it was a portrait session giveaway and Ashley was so excited about their photos that she basically booked us that day for their wedding but they weren’t even engaged yet! Ha! Fast forward a year or so and Ben and her had the sweetest elopement in their hometown on a Tuesday evening and we got to be there! Then about a year later they had Emmaline and came all the way to Magnolia for us to do their fall family photos! Ahh, we just had the best time wandering around in this golden oasis!
October Family Session | Rue Family
Every October we spend one weekend with a whole bunch of families, many of which we have photographed for years and years. The Rue fam is one of those. I’ve been photographing them nearly every year since Maddox, the oldest was born. Stacy and I used to work together and we’ve kept in touch for over 6 years since we stopped working in the restaurant biz. I just love this group so much, each year the kids personalities change and they sprout up like weeds. It’s so fun that they know who I am each time, since they don’t see me often in-between. We always have a blast with this wild bunch!
Moon Child
We really love documenting things other than weddings, too! This session was a spontaneous evening spent wandering around the woods. We shot from sunset into the moon light and Jessica was an awesome model! She had a blast just letting her spirit free!

Stephanie in the Woods
We've been in the mood for while to do something different in our work. Both of us have been trying to make a conscious effort to see different angles, look for different light that we wouldn't typically be drawn to and to shoot a more soulful story. Finally we planned a shoot with Stephanie, who is a Ballerina, in the woods of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
We're both SO proud and in love with these images. The story they tell and the experience of documenting something at a much slower pace than a wedding is something we're really drawn to right now. We told Stephanie to be herself, dress however she wanted, do her makeup however she wanted; that we wanted to document a soulful image of a soulful person. We wanted the light and the dark to meet, kiss and be the main event in these images. Take a look at Stephanie in the Woods. We didn't plan on photographing Stephanie with her car but once we saw her in it, we couldn't resist!
The girls on Holiday | Malibu, California
El Matador Beach Editorial
El Matador Beach is one of three cove and cliff beaches along the Pacific Crest Highway in the Robert H. Meyer Memorial State Beach. It's one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. Although it's beauty is no secret, this beach draws photographers from all over, all of the time. In the summer and at golden hour the small portion of beach is peppered with photographers and awe-seekers trying to catch that moment when the golden California sun sinks low enough to just barely touch the mountains behind, creating a magical glow over the cliffs that drapes around everything and turns into a blue and white emulsion of sparkles off the water. It's a busy and bustling place but if you time it just right, you'll find a bit of solitude. Once the road-rippers have made their way back to their cars and the picnickers have headed back to LA, it's then that this place can really been seen for what it is.
This editorial shoot came together without much planning at all. My high school friend Crystal lives near Malibu and her two girl-friends had been on holiday that week visiting her. We planned to meet at sunset with cameras and a cooler full of snacks and this is what happened!
Rachel (above) is an aspiring model and would love to be hired for future editorial, commercial and fashion shoots. Get ahold of her at rjrufener@msn.com
